1915 GÖRGÜ TANIKLARINCA VAN VE ÇEVRESİNDE ERMENİ OLAYLARI

Tarih boyunca Romalılar, Persler ve Bizanslılarca bir yerden başka bir yere sürülen, savaşlara itilen ve kötü muamele gören Ermeniler Türklerin Anadolu topraklarına girmelerinden sonra, Türk milletinin adaletli, hoşgörülü, birleştirici ve "yaratılanı yaratandan ötürü" kucaklayan insan sevgisi anlayışından yararlanmışlardır. Ermeniler Osmanlı Devleti'nin gayretli, çalışkan, dürüst ve başarılı her vatandaşına sağladığı fırsat ve imkânlardan, gayrimüslimler içinde en fazla yararlananlar olmuştur.

Ermeniler, askerlikten kısmen de vergiden muaf tutulurken, çiftçilikte, zanaatta, ticarette ve devlet yönetiminde yükselme fırsat ve imkânını elde etmişlerdir. Devlete bağlı, milletle anlaşmış ve kaynaşmış olduklarından dolayı Ermeniler "Millet-i Sadıka" olarak kabul edilmişlerdir. Bu güven sayesinde iş hayatında olduğu gibi, kamu hizmetlerinde de önemli yerlere gelmişlerdir. Zimmi hukukun gereği olarak tüm gayrimüslimlere olduğu gibi Ermenilere de insanca muamele edilmiş, şefkatle davranılmıştır. Osmanlı tarihi Ermenilerden 22 bakan, 33 milletvekili, 29 paşa, 7 büyükelçi, 11 başkonsolos, 11 üniversite öğretim üyesi ve 41 üst düzey yöneticisi memur kaydetmektedir.

Ancak, Osmanlı Devleti'nin zayıfladığı dönemlerde hemen her konuda baş gösteren Avrupa Devletlerinin müdahaleleri sonucunda Türk-Ermeni ilişkileri de bozulmaya başlamıştır. Sömürgeci güçlerin özellikle din adamı kisvesinde Osmanlı Devleti'ne gönderdiği kışkırtıcıların etkinlikleriyle sosyal, kültürel, ticarî, dinî ve siyasî açılardan Türk milletinden uzaklaştırılmaya çalışılmıştır. ABD de ne zaman Türkiye ile ilgili Senato ve Temsilciler Meclisi toplantısı yapılsa bu toplantılarla ilgili haberler verilirken Ermeni Diasporası denen bir şeyden bahsedilir.Bu diasporanın amacı hepinizin bildiği gibi ABD meclisini ve senatosunu etkileyip sözde Ermeni soykırımını tanımaları yönünde baskı yapmaları veya Türkiye ile yapılacak her türlü ekonomik antlaşmanın bir şekilde sekteye uğratılması veya mümkünse engellenmesi.

Son günlerde bu tip haberler yine gündemimize yerleşti. ABD'de 90 tane senatör Başkan Bush'a sözde Ermeni soykırımını tanıması için baskı yapmaya başladı. Haberlerin verilişi ve vurgusu Türk halkına çok sevimli gelmez. Ne olduğunu bilmeyiz ama iyi bir şeyleri çağrıştırmıyor bizlere. O zaman durumdan görev çıkaralım dedik diasporayı araştırmaya başladık.

Diaspora; ülkesinde yaşamayan vatandaşlara veya başka ülkede aynı soydan gelenlere verilen ad. Tanım çok kesin değil ama kimisi bir devleti olup ama devletin vatandaşı olmayan veya o devletin nüfusun dan daha fazla kişinin yurt dışında yaşıyor olma durumuna bu adı veriyor. Kimi bizim Almanyada'ki vatandaşlarımızı da diaspora olarak görüyor. Tam bir konsensüs yok. Kelimenin kökenini de bulamadım o yüzden bende kişisel yorumumu ekleyemedim.

Aidiyet duyguları içerisinde bir araya gelmiş bu kişiler gayet organize bir şekilde hareket ediyorlar. Çağdaş tanımlamayla iyi bir takım çalışması diye biliriz hatta fanatizm içeriyor desem çok da hata yapmış sayılmam. Ermeni nüfusunun dünyada kaç kişi olduğunu tam bilmiyorum ama bu grubun kendi çıkarları için çok etkin &.. ( devamı )

Another significant dimension of the Armenian issue from Turkey�s point of view is the start of the use of armed terror methods by the Armenians against the Turks. This aggressive strategy which was aimed directly at Turkish statesmen, started with the bombed attack launched in 1905 against Emperor Abdulhamid II.

After the foundation of the Turkish Republic in 1923, there was a peaceful period until 1965. In 1965 the terrorist movements suddenly rekindled with the support of the Armenian lobby. Turkish diplomats were killed, nearly 20 monuments were erected until the end of 1972 and a systematic press and publication activity was launched.

During the Armenian terror period, it was the traditional Tashnak and Hinchak organisations that designed, developed and implemented the attacks, diversified the targets, provided manpower for the terrorist teams, gave them moral and psychological support and found the necessary contacts for them.. The organisation that made itself known most frequently in this process was the ASALA, the acronym of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia.

The creators of the new terror age were the traditional terrorist organisations through the teams and groups that they trained, and the ASALA with the most merciless and inhuman practices under an independence mask. ASALA received its moral and psychological support, and the medium for contacts and relations from Hinchak. It may be stated on the basis of the foregoing that the traditional terror continued without respite, benefited from the occasions offered in the �60s and, making use of the of the opportunities launched a manhunt against Turks.

Birçok tarihi fotoğrafın montajlanarak kamuoyunun kandırılmaya çalışıldığını belirten Ataöv, farklı ülkelerin çıkarmaya çalıştıkları yasalarla "Ey Türkler, geçmişinizle yüzleşin" dediklerini belirtti. Ataöv, "Geçmişle yüzleşmek bir tarih sorunudur. Geçmişi aydınlatacak belgelerin eksiksiz, doğru, yansız ve dengeli biçimde ortaya çıkması gerekir. Geçmişte ne olduğunu belirlemenin koşulu siyasilerin kararlarının bir yana itmektir." dedi.

Türkkaya Ataöv, İstanbul Üniversitesi Mezunları Derneği (IUMEZUSA) ve Turkish American Architects Engeenirs Society (MIM) tarafından hafta içinde düzenlenen ''Ermeni Sorunu: Geçmişle Yüzleşmek'' isimli bir konferans verdi ve soruları yanıtladı. 1915 yılında Doğu Anadolu'da yalnız kurşunlanarak değil, görülmemiş yöntemlerle boğazlanmış birçok Müslüman'ın olduğunu belirten Ataöv, Ermenilerin dünyayı yanıltmak için sahte belgelere sıklıkla başvurduğunu dile getirdi.

Osmanlı devleti, toprakları üç dini, dinlere bağlı bir çok mezhebi, bu din ve mezheplere mensup milletleri barış içerisinde barındırıyordu. Kendi dini inanç, gelenek ve göreneklerini hakim hukukun güvencesiyle devam ettirebilen bu topluluklar sosyo ekonomik yapılarını günümüze kadar taşıyabilmişlerdir. Osmanlı devletinin oluşturduğu bu toplum yapısı Avrupa devletleri tarafından anlaşılamamıştır. Zira Avrupa yüzyıllardır feodal toplulukların aynı millet ve aynı dine mensup olmalarına rağmen kavgalarıyla çalkalanmıştır. Feodalizmden milli devlete geçiş Avrupa devletleri için bir aşama sayılırken Osmanlı devleti bu kargaşayı hiç yaşamamıştır. Fransız ihtilalinin ortaya koyduğu fikirler Osmanlı toplum yapısını istismar eden Avrupa devletleri için önemli bir atlama taşı teşkil etmiştir. İhtilal Avrupa'da birlik beraberlik fikirlerini pekiştirirken Osmanlı toplum yapısını ayrıştırmaya başlamıştır. Bunun en önemli sebeplerinin başında sömürgecilik politikası gelir. Avrupa devletleri Osmanlı devletini parçalayarak karşılarındaki güçlü yapıyı ortadan kaldırıp dünyayı pay edebileceklerdi. Her bir ülke Osmanlı devleti bünyesindeki azınlıkları kendi çıkarları doğrultusunda yönlendirmeye başladı. Azınlıkların Osmanlı devletiyle her hangi bir problemi olmamasına rağmen bu politikalara alet olmaları onlarla ilgilenen Avrupa devletlerinin art niyetlerini sezemediklerinden kaynaklanmaktadır.

Diaspora Ermenileri, “tarihçilerin” soykırım davasını kabul ettiğini söylüyor. Ortada, diasporanın çizgisini onaylayan “soykırım uzmanları birliği” olarak nitelendirilen saçma bir örgüt var; ancak bunlar kim ve ne tür ehliyetlere sahipler? Ruanda, Bosna ve hatta Auschwitz hakkında bir şeyler biliyor olmak onlara 1915′teki Anadolu’yu tartışma salahiyeti vermez…

‘Ermeni soykırımı emperyalist bir komplo.’ Marksist bir üslup içinde böyle dile getirmişti Doğu Perinçek ve bunu İsviçre’de söylemeyi tercih etmişti. İsviçre, 1915 yılında Osmanlı Ermenilerinin soykırımdan geçtiğini inkar eden herhangi birine hapis cezası öngören bir yasayı kabul etmişti ve Perinçek sırf buna karşı çıktı diye polis tarafından sorguya çekilmişti. Ne yazık ki diğer ülkelerde de benzer olaylar cereyan ediyor ve şimdi de Fransız parlamentosu İsviçre’den daha sert bir yasayı onaylamış durumda: Bir yıl hapis ve ağır para cezası. Bu saçma, gülünç ve de rezilce bir iş - tarihin karalanması ve ondan geri kalmayan popülist politikalar. Aslında, mali açıdan da çok kirli bir iş. Zira hepimiz biliyoruz ki, Ermeniler için yasal sistem işleyebilir: mahkeme davalarının sonunda kârların paylaşımı karşılığında hukukçular hiçbir şey yapmama konusunda anlaşacaktır. Mahkeme davaları her zaman çok pahalıdır ve bu nedenle bankalar, şirketler ya da hastaneler için, herhangi bir sorumluluk kabul etmeden ödeme yapma anlaşması yapmak daha kolaydır; çünkü davayla uğraşmak absürd bir biçimde pahalı olacaktır ve -Amerikan jüri sistemi prosedüründe olduğu gibi, sonucun ne getireceği kestirilemez. Ne ironiktir ki hırsızlık yapmak istediği evin çatısından düşen ve feci şekilde yaralanan hırsız, ev sahibini mahkemeye veriyor: Sonuç, uğradığı kaza dolayısıyla kendisine ödenen zarar miktarı bir milyon dolar! What does Hitler really teach us? Let's see now... the Armenian "Genocide" was created as a propagandistic reason to help justify the Allied carving up of the Ottoman Empire. Nobody cared to ask World War I's victor (the Allies) whether the truth was told or not. This is why the Western World still believes in the truth of the Falsified Armenian "Genocide," today.

"It is not right that matters, but victory." You go, girl. Ironically, the same contention is valued by the Armenians' allies in the genocide industry.

Why Has the Lochner Version Assumed the Importance That It Has?

Why and how such a spurious quotation of forty-five years ago became so important that it has been cited by no fewer than twenty-two members of the U.S. Congress in 1984? The answer is complex and closely linked to American ethnic politics. Taking advantage of the flurry of press interest aroused by the activities of Armenian terrorist groups, activities which in the past decade have resulted in the assassinations of over thirty-five Turkish diplomats, Armenian-American spokesmen have stepped up their ongoing campaign of vilification against the Republic of Turkey which they allege was responsible for the “genocide” of more than 1.5 million Armenians during the First World War. Unhampered by the limitations of logic or truth, these spokesmen attempt to justify current Armenian violence against innocent diplomats (none of whom were living in 1915), as a natural response to Armenian suffering in the course of the First World War.

In terms of logic (or the lack thereof), this is comparable to the descendants of peoples who suffered under the last Russian czars running around shooting Soviet diplomats today. Both the Soviet Union and the Republic of Turkey began their existence as revolutionary states in the wake of the First World War, the former emerging from the ashes of the Russian Empire, while the latter was created from the ruins of the 600-year-old Ottoman Empire, the political entity in existence at the time of the alleged genocide.

A significant portion of Armenian propaganda efforts in recent years has been devoted to establishing a linkage between their own historical experiences and those of European Jewry during the Second World War. The cornerstone in their case has long .. ( devamı )

Armenian “Hitler Quote” Proven To Be Fabrication

Speaking before the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh in 1983, Professor Richard Hovannisian of UCLA, the dean of Armenian-American historians, echoed a bit of the crumbling pseudo-history on which Armenians today base much of their claims of the ill-termed ~genocide of 1915.” He told his audience interalia:

“Perhaps Adolf Hitler had good cause in 1939 to declare, according to the Nuremberg trial trans, ‘Who, after all, speaks today of the extermination of the Armenians?”

It is now obvious that Professor Hovannisian never checked the Nuremberg trial trans to which he attributes this Hitlerian quotation. Dr. Heath W. Lowry of the Institute of Turkish Studies, however, did go through the Nuremberg records painstakingly, and the results of his research are fascinating. Lowry shows quite conclusively that “the Hitler Quote,” which has taken on a life of its own among Armenian— and even Holocaust scholars—during the past forty years, does not appear at all anywhere in the Nuremberg trans.

“Turkey will always support Baku’s equitable position in settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in Nakhchivan on 4 June after negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The Turkish Prime Minister is paying a 1-day official visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan (NAR). In the first half of the day, Erdogan held twosome negotiations with Azerbaijani President. Moreover, Aliyev and Erdogan headed the negotiations between two countries’ governmental delegations at the NAR Supreme Assembly (Parliament).

At the briefing after negotiations, President Aliyev thanked Turkey for its permanent support to Azerbaijan in the peace negotiations with Armenia.

The conflict between the two countries of the South Caucasus began in 1988 due to Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20% of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time the active hostilities ended. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France, and the US) are currently holding peaceful negotiations.

TÜRKİYE ŞİMDİ DE YUNANİSTAN’IN SOYKIRIM İDDİALARI İLE KARŞI KARŞIYA

Türkiye, Ermenistan’ın soykırım suçlamalarından sonra, şimdi de Yunanistan tarafından kendisine yöneltilen Pontus Soykırımı iddiaları ile karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. 1985’ten bu yana belirli aralıklar ile gündeme gelen bu konu 1994 yılında Yunanistan Parlamentosu tarafından soykırım olarak kabul edilmişti. Parlamento ayrıca 1996 yılında “Ermeni Soykırımını” ve 1998 yılında da “Küçük Asya Elenleri Soykırımını” kabul eden kararlar alarak Türkiye’ye karşı soykırım iddialarını güçlendirme yoluna gitmişti.

Yunanistan, 1914 yılında I. Dünya Savaşı’nın başlaması ile Pontuslu Rumların sistematik baskıya maruz kaldığını, 1915’ten itibaren mallarının yağmalandığını ve Anadolu’nun içlerine zorunlu göç ettirildiklerini ve 1918 yılına kadar 250.000 Rum’un öldürüldüğünü iddia etmektedir. 1919’da Atatürk’ün Samsun’a çıkması ile “soykırımın” ikinci safhasının başladığı ve 1923 yılına kadar 100.000 civarında Rum’un daha öldürüldüğü savunulmaktadır. Yunanistan, sonuç olarak 1916 ve 1923 yılları arasında 350.000 civarında Pontuslu Rum’un Türkler tarafından soykırıma uğratıldığını iddia etmektedir. Atatürk’ün Samsun’a çıktığı gün olan 19 Mayıs, Yunanistan Parlamentosu tarafından “Pontus Yunanlılarının Soykırımını Anma Günü” olarak kabul edilmiştir. Parlamento kararı ile resmiyet kazanan bu iddialar sonrasında Yunanistan Türkiye’den bu olayları “soykırım” olarak kabul etmesini beklemektedir.

Osmanlı tarihi 18.yüzyılın ortalarından itibaren hızlanmış yoğunlaşmış bir tarihtir. Bu süreç Osmanlı'dan Cumhuriyet'e inkılap etme sürecine kadar devam etmiştir. Bu tarih aynı zamanda Osmanlı medeniyetinin millet sistemi içinde yaşayan halkların dış faktörün baskın olduğu çöküş ve parçalanma süreçlerinde yaşadıkları trajedinin de tarihidir. Bu trajediden mülhem, acıyla yoğrulmuş kollektif hafıza bugünlere kadar taşınmıştır. Bu arada kendi tarihlerini yazanlar mağduriyetlerini öne çıkararak kendilerinden olmayanları yok saydılar. Ersal Yavi' nin kitabı bir anlamda karşılaştırmalı tarih yazımının örneklerini sergileyerek, bizim dışımızda kalanların tarihine giriş yapmaya çalışıyor.

Kitabın kurgusu Ermeni sorununun Batı'yla başlayan iktisadi ilişkilerin uzun dönemli sonuçlarına dayalı olarak oluşturulmuş. İktisadi ilişkilerin doğallıkla ülke içi iktisadi aktörlere yansıyan yanları var. Düyun-ü Umumiye'nin mali sisteme el koymasıyla başlayan süreçte sermayenin gayrimüslim anasır lehine değişimi söz konusudur. Özellikle Ermeniler Mali sistemde 'Galata Bankerleri' aracılığıyla yeni dönemde güçlerini pekiştirmişlerdir. Gayrimüslimler ile bu dönemde Avrupa arasında iktisadi ilişkiler söz konusuydu. Bu iktisadi ilişkilerin iktisadi olmayan sonuçları da akabinde gündeme gelmeye başlıyor. Başka bir deyişle yabancı sermayedar yerli destekçi arayışına girdiğinde karşısında Ermeni ve Yahudi sermayedarı buluyor. Kitapta resmedildiği gibi bu arada yerli Müslüman ahali iktisadi değişimden olumsuz etkileniyor. Aşama aşama Batılılaşma projesi ve bu proje kapsamında Gayrimüslim anasırın hukuki pozisyonunun değişimi İngiltere ve Rusya'nın özellikle Ermeniler'in hamiliğine soyunmalarını kolaylaştırıyor. So-called Armenian Genocide

Abstract This article traces the history of a purported Adolf Hitler quote which cites the perecent of the world's lack of reaction to the fate of Armenians during the First World War as a justification for his planned extermination of European Jewry in the course of the Second World War. By a detailed examination of the genesis of this quotation the author demonstrates that there is no historical basis for attributing such a statement to Hitler. Likewise, the author tarces the manner in which this purported quote has entered the lexicon of U.S. Congressmen, and the manner in which it continues to be used by Armenian-Americans in their efforts to established a linkage between their own history and the tragic fate of European Jewry during the Second World War. The author concludes with a plea to policy-makers that they focus their activities on the responsibilities of their offices and leave the writing of history to the historians.

A casual perusal of the pages of the Congressional Record (CR), of both the House and the Senate, on or about April 24, 1984, reveals a bipartisan group of our elected officials condemning the failure of the Republic of Turkey to acknowledge and assume responsibility for the "genocide" of the Armenian people allegedly perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire in the course of the First World War. In 1984, a total of sixty-six such statements, fifty-seven by members of the House and nine by Senators, wire read into the Congressional Record. Of these sixty-six tributes in support of Armenian Martyrs' Day remembrances, exactly one third-twenty-two-contained one or another version of a quote attributed to Adolf Hitler in which he purportedly responded to a query about his planned annihilation of European Jewry, by quipping: "Who, after all, speaks.. The Armenian Gourgen Yanikian, a U.S. citizen, invites the Turkish Consul General, Mehmet Baydar, and the Consul, Bahadžr Demir to a luncheon. The unsuspecting diplomats accept the friendly invitation. Gourgen Yanikian murders his two guests. He is sentenced to life imprisonment.

Bombings at the Turkish Consulate General and the offices of Turkish Airlines (THY). Extensive damage.
October 26, 1973 New York
Attempted bombing of the Turkish Information Office. The bomb is discovered in time and defused. A group calling itself the "Yanikian Commandos" claims responsibility. They want the release of the double murderer of Santa Barbara, Gourgen Yanikian, who insidiously murdered two Turkish diplomats.
February 7, 1975 Beirut
Attempted bombing of the Turkish Information and Tourism Bureau. The bomb explodes while being defused. A Lebanese policeman is injured. The "Prisoner Gourgen Yanikian Group" claims responsibility.

The Armenian terrorists use the names of several different front organizations in carrying out their attacks. In spite of the seemingly bewildering multitude of acronyms and pretentious titles, however, everything can in fact be traced back to just two organizations.

The oldest Armenian terrorist organization grew out of the Dashnak Party, which had been under the spell of the Russian anarchists and ultras from the beginning and reached maturity in Russian Armenia. The party was a response of the extremists to their own unsuccessful efforts to give the Armenian minority within the Ottoman Empire a state of its own. These efforts were actually doomed to failure from the beginning, given the small percentage of Armenians in the eastern Anatolian population.

These first Armenian terrorists bear an uncanny resemblance to the Shiite suicide squads. (Extensive accounts can be found elsewhere in this book of Armenian terrorism in the Ottoman Empire of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.) Their main heirs from an historical viewpoint, however, are the JCAG (Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide).

The terrorist actions of the JCAG are regarded - as funny as this may sound - as being carried out by "conservatives". Their specialty appears to be the assassination of Turkish diplomats and their families.

ASALA (Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia) is, by contrast, generally considered to be a Marxist terrorist organization, closely controlled by the Soviet Union. They see the existence of a.. ( devamı )

Turks and Armenians between the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk (December, 1918) and the Treaties of Gumru, Moscow, and Kars (October, 1921)

Between 1917 and 1918, the collapse of the Russian Czardom robbed the Western powers of their great Eastern ally, thus giving the Central Powers a little breathing space. Armenian irregulars continued fighting on the eastern Anatolian and Egyptian-Arabian fronts and attacking the Turks, Austrians, and Germans with rhetoric. During this period, the Armenians became a factor to be reckoned with in the battle against the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Germany, who were all putting up a tough defense.

Now, negotiations were finally held that had a certain real foundation. The concessions made to Czarist Russia in the Sykes-Picot Agreement had served the Czar's interests, not those of the ever-hopeful Armenian extremists (extremist not only in their political methods, but also in their exaggerated expectations).

Communist-Bolshevist Russia would long remain an unknown entity, (No one could have guessed that its politics would differ in absolutely no way from those of the Czars; the Armenians suspected this least of all!) So after the collapse of the Czardom, everything that had been promised to the Czars in the Sykes-Picot Agreement was now promised to the Armenians. It was thus reasonable to expect them to distinguish themselves a little bit more in the fight against the Ottoman Empire!

In the entire, very extensive literature published by the Armenian and pro-Armenian side concerning the tragic events, of World War I, one searches in vain for a single word of sorrow for the many the innocent Moslems who lost their lives during and after the Armenian uprising.

According to the reliable research findings of Professor Justin McCarthy, approximately 600,000 Armenian lost their lives as a result of uprisings, war, epidemics, relocation, flight, and starvation. At the same time, the same factors caused the deaths of two and a half million people on the Moslem side in the same regions. Most of these people were Turks.

It has only been recently, since the appalling assassinations of Turkish diplomats around the world, that the Turkish government has begun to pity more attention to the records of the atrocities perpetrated by Armenian fanatics.

The truth can occasionally be found by reading between the lines, as in Christopher Walker's book Armenia-The Survival of a Nation. On page 247, he writes of the bitter fighting between Turks and Armenians and its horrible consequences for the civilian population: "Atrocity and counter-atrocity by Turk and Armenian alike had brought tilt, situation to flash point, particularly at Erzinjdan. Wherever file truth about the atrocity stories lay (and it seems probable that the Armenians, seeking to avenge the genocide, were killing Turks without compunction)..."

Abraham Sou Sever is a Sephardic Jew, born in Izmir, Turkey, before World War I. He later emigrated to the United States and now lives in California.

Abraham Sou Sever has filed a written Deposition and Testimonial in which he tells the truth about the Armenians' "genocide" claims and their propaganda methods from his own personal life experiences and knowledge. Particularly significant is his testimony on Franz Werfel. Mr. Sever's notarized deposition has been transmitted to research institutions in the United States as part of a written and oral history collection on the Armenian claims for a genocide.

Here is what Mr. Sever has to say about Franz Werfel and the events which took place on Musa Dagh:

"Moussa Dagh (Mount Moussa), if the truth be known, is the best evidence of the Armenian duplicity and rebellion. Fifty thousand Armenians, all armed, ascended the summit of that mountain after provisioning it to stand siege. Daily sallies from that summit of armed bands attacked the rear of the Ottoman armies, and disappeared into the mountain. When the Ottomans finally discovered the fortification the Armenians had prepared, they could not assault and invade it. It stood siege for 40 days, which is a good indication of the preparations the Armenians had made surreptitiously under the very nose of the Ottoman Government. Nor was it ever explained that the rebellion of the Armenians had been fostered, organized, financed, and supplied with arms and munitions by the Russians.
